Frequently Asked Questions

Lead time for stamping dies – prototype & production?
For prototype soft tooling (aluminum or mild steel), lead time is typically 7–15 days depending on complexity. Production-grade hard tooling (heat-treated tool steel or carbide) requires 20–35 days for progressive dies with up to 15 stations. We also offer an accelerated 5‑day prototyping service for simple parts using in-house 3D printing and rapid CNC. All lead times include design, CNC machining, heat treatment (if applicable), and tryout with first-article inspection report.
Do you support low-volume or prototype stamping runs?
Absolutely. We handle quantities from as few as 1 piece for engineering prototypes up to 100,000+ parts for production. Our flexible manufacturing system includes soft tooling for low-volume runs (typically 500–10,000 parts) and progressive hard tooling for high-volume efficiency. We also support iterative design changes during the NPD phase, with short-turn revisions to tooling. No minimum order quantity for prototyping.
What material certifications do you provide?
We provide full material traceability including original mill test certificates (MTC) for all tool steels, carbides, and alloys. Upon request, we can supply PMI (XRF) verification, hardness test reports (Rockwell HRC or Brinell HB), microstructure analysis, and grain size evaluation. For production stampings, we can also include raw material certificates for the customer's part material (e.g., SPCC, SUS304, etc.). All documentation is maintained for 10+ years.
Can you assist with die design (DFM)?
Yes, our engineering team provides comprehensive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis within 24 hours of receiving your 3D model (STEP, IGES, X_T, or STP). We evaluate formability, material utilization, die construction, and recommend optimal steel grades, coating, and number of stations. Our DFM report includes forming simulation (AutoForm/Dynaform) when required, which predicts springback, stress points, and potential cracking. This service is free of charge for potential projects.
What coatings do you recommend for abrasive materials?
For high-abrasion applications (advanced high-strength steels, stainless, or abrasive composites), we recommend AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) with hardness up to 3500 HV, or TiSiN nano-composite coatings for extreme wear. For stamping aluminum and copper alloys, DLC (ta-C) or CrN reduces galling and extends die life by 3–5x. For carbide dies, CVD diamond coating can be applied for the longest wear life. Our coating partners provide thickness up to 6μm and temperature resistance up to 1100°C.
How do you ensure quality for international shipping?
Every tool and stamped part undergoes a 3-stage quality gate: (1) Incoming material verification (mill certs, hardness), (2) In-process CNC inspection with offline CMM for critical dimensions, (3) Final inspection using Zeiss CMM (accuracy ±0.001 mm), optical comparator, and surface roughness tester. For export, we provide detailed inspection reports (FAI) and ISTA-certified packaging to prevent damage during transit. We also offer third-party inspection (SGS, TÜV) upon request.
