What is a Stamping Die?
A stamping die is a precision tool used to cut or form sheet metal into accurate, repeatable shapes under a press machine. Each die includes punches, die blocks, and guide pins designed for long-term stability and precision.
SSPrecision specializes in progressive, compound, and transfer stamping dies, engineered to meet strict tolerance and durability standards for high-volume production.
Our Stamping Die Manufacturing Process
At SSPrecision, every stamping die is built using a proven, ISO-certified workflow:
- Design & Feasibility Review – Product drawings are analyzed to optimize layout, forming steps, and material usage.
- 3D CAD Design & Simulation – Using UG, CATIA, and SolidWorks, we simulate metal forming to prevent defects.
- Material Selection & Heat Treatment – Premium steels (SKD11, D2, DC53, H13) ensure hardness, wear resistance, and long die life.
- CNC Machining & Wire EDM – Multi-axis CNC and precision EDM achieve up to ±0.002mm accuracy.
- Die Assembly & Trial Run – Components are fitted, assembled, and tested on press machines up to 500 tons.
- Quality Inspection & Delivery – Each tool passes CMM, hardness, and surface inspections before shipment.

Compound dies Stamping
Compound die stamping performs several metal forming operations in a single press stroke. The two-stage process provides accuracy, quickness, and low material waste, except for complicated, close-tolerance parts.
We provide expert compound die stamping solutions efficient production.
Blanking
Blanking is a metal stamping process with high accuracy that cuts off flat blanks from sheet metal by means of a punch and die. The operation yields clean-cut true dimension parts with tight tolerances and minimal burrs.
We provide expert blanking solutions.
Metal dies Stamping
These presses punch, shape, or cut sheet metal into high-volume parts using punch/die sets under pressure. Critical to automotive and electronic production, they provide precision and cost-effectiveness. Providing streamlined solutions from proto to volume production.
Types of SSP's Stamping Dies Manufacturing Services
Progressive dies Stamping
Progressive die stamping is an advanced metal forming process that cost-effectively manufactures intricate parts by a succession of coordinated operations in one die. As a metal strip passes over the press, each station executes an individual operation—punching, bending, or coining—until the finished part is manufactured in the last operation.
Transfer dies Stamping
Transfer stamping is a high-precision metal forming technology where single blanks are mechanically transferred between multiple sets of dies in a single press. While progressive stamping (with continuous sheet) is run using pre-cut blanks, transfer stamping can be used to create more intricate geometries, deeper draw, and larger products—best suited for automotive, aerospace, and heavy industry applications.
Deep Draw dies Stamping
Deep draw stamping is a specialty metalworking process that takes flat sheet metal and shapes it into seamless, hollow parts by progressive compressing and stretching. Our precision-made dies form the material incrementally through sequential stations to produce even wall thickness and strength for complicated geometries such as cans, enclosures, and auto housings.
